The topic of who the best in the game is continues to rumble on, but we have reason to believe, based on tournament performance, that Luke might be the top character in Street Fighter 6.
This comees thanks to data from Cat Cammy who has been compiling Street Fighter 6 data for a while.
In a new infographic released recently following Sayff's win and entry into Capcom Cup showed a couple of key points. The first piece of data that catches the eye is the number of Lukes are in Capcom Cup with a whopping 11 which represents about 23% of the character representation in the tournament. The next character is Ken with 8 representatives with Dee Jay, Juri, Chun li and Guile making up the other four places.
This already shows just how strong Luke is as a character and contradicts those who say he isn't strong but only has good fundamentals.
Going further, the chart shows how many Lukes made it to the top 8 of Capcom Pro Tour events with 58 of them making it to top 8. This number is mirrored by Ken who also appeared in the top 8 about 58 times. But where Luke moves ahead is with the number of appearances in top 4 which sits at about 30 compared to Ken's 27.
Surprisingly, JP does not feature as much and there are only 3 JPs in Capcom Cup at the moment. This has led to some speculation that perhaps JP is not as strong as people have attributed him to be.
However, this video from Sajam explains why he thinks there are few JPs at Capcom Cup. In his explanation, he reasons that Japan has the strongest JPs and considering that Japan has the likes of Kakeru, Ryusei, Kei.B, ACQUA, and so many more, you can see the merit of this point of view.
