SolVGN produced something of a surprise to earn a spot at Capcom Cup
This weekend saw the best players from Central America fight it out for a spot at Capcom Cup IX, and SolVGN came out as the winner with an incredible run in the losers bracket. SolVGN with a plethora of characters was thrown into the losers bracket pretty early on, but went through player after player to earn a spot in grand final. He then reset the bracket and got an incredible win.
When the weekend started, veterans MJ_Gama and Kusanagi were touted as the favorites, but both eventually fell to SolVGN. The other standout performer of the weekend was Todakai who while considered a top player, was not part of the conversation for who would win this weekend.
Todakai and SolVGN were able to massively improve from their positions last time around as Todakai was 7th at the last CPT Central America while SolVGN was 4th. Their use of various characters also came in handy as it gave them a way to navigate difficult situations. For instance, SolVGN used Luke, Seth, and even Falke with this versatility giving him the upper hand against his opponents.
SolVGN is now the 11th player to qualify, but Todakai has a chance through the World Warrior series which will now be hotter than ever.
Next up on the calendar is South Africa which is shaping up to be a very exciting competition and a great chance to once again showcase some premium African talent.
