SNK Universe Project: Beyond Fighting

SNK Corporation has announced a new initiative, named SNK Universe Project. The company says in the official post that they want to “increase global awareness of SNK’s numerous IPs”.

SNK will branch out from the fighting game genre for which it is so well known, and even traverse entertainment mediums entirely by entering the worlds of manga, anime, film, and music (among others).

The first event of this project happens at New York Comic Con 2023, on October 12-15. A special movie about the SNK Universe Project will be shown there. It will be mainly centered around the world and history of The King of Fighters.

We at DashFight look forward to seeing what awesome products can be created thanks to the SNK Universe Project. Hopefully, this attempt to scale the business will not ruin the authentic SNK fighting games experience.

Meanwhile, the company continues to support the esports dimension of The King of Fighter XV. A tournament at Thunderstruck 2023 was a Global Qualifier of the SNK World Championship. The next such event happens at East Coast Throwdown 2023, on October 20-23.
