Street Fighter, Tekken & KOF Added As Titles For 20th Asian Games 2026
All the fighting games will only qualify for one medal

Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, and The King Of Fighters XV will all feature in the coming Asian Games 2026 which will be held in Japan.

This was announced by the official social media account of the Olympic Council of Asia who listed 11 games that will be represented for the esports category. The games mentioned are:

  • Competitve Martial Arts (Street Fighter, Tekken, King Of Fighters)
  • Pokemon Unite
  • Honor Of Kings
  • League Of Legends
  • PUBG Mobile
  • Indentity V
  • Mobile Legends: Bang Bang
  • Naraka: Bladepoint
  • Gran Turismo
  • eFootball Series
  • Puyo Puyo Champions

For the fighting games section, it will be a team tournament with only one gold medal. This means that every country will need to provide players for all the fighting games and it will be their collective victory that will earn the gold medal. Exactly how the logistics of this will work is currently unknown.

Esports have started becoming a feature at the Asian Games as they made their full debut at the 2022 edition of the Asian Games which held in China.

On that occasion, Kim Gwan-woo, who will be better known to gamers are M. Lizard, became the first Olympic Gold medalist for a fighting game after he defeated Gamerbee 4-3.

With there being more fighting games, the competition will be tougher, but we can stay tuned for more details.
