Lacid, ET, Mok, and Syounen entered through the upper side of the bracket. On the lower side, SCORE, M', madamuda2th, and Morimotti were fighting for a chance to remain in the prestigious competition. The highest placing non-asian player was Falcon's recent acquisition Tamago, who placed tied for 9th place following a closer than the score reflects 2-0 loss against M'. Its also worth highlighting that none of the players coming through the lower side in pools was able to make their way into the top 8.
ET and mok got off to a strong start, dispatching Lacid and Syounen respectively in 2-0 series. Both players using Isla as their 3rd character on their teams. On the Lower side, madamuda2th and SCORE were the first out of the running, followed by Syounen, who lost out in a 2-1 series versus M', while Lacid remained in the event after defeating Morimotti.
ET would keep the streak going as he advanced to the finals on a 3-1 series, putting mok on the lower side and facing Lacid. After an incredibly tight 3-2 series in the lower finals, it was Mok returning for the grand finals versus ET.
After getting the series tied 1-1, ET would win the following two matches to pick up his back-to-back Evo Japan championships for KOF XV.
