Skullgirls Fighters Fest Results: One Squigly to Win
How many characters do you use in Skullgirls matches?

Unlike some other team-tag games (DBFZ, for instance), Skullgirls offers an interesting option of taking less than three characters to a fight, making them stronger. Pro players use 2- and 1-character teams not too often, though — there were no such choices at EVO 2023.

The Skullgirls tournament at the Fighters Fest event was different. Quite a few participants experimented with smaller teams. Even the winner eventually switched from 2 to 1 character.

Soup played a “traditional” 3-character team and made it to the Grand Final quite confidently.

Bigtonney started with Squigly and Big Band but fell to Losers. The player tried to switch the characters and then took only Squilgy to the Losers Final and the Grand Final. It helped Bigtonney reset the brackets and win the tournament.

Other players also used smaller teams — check out the chart below.

Skullgirls 2nd Encore has tournaments at various big events — for example, at CEOtaku VII.

On November 18-19, the game will be presented at Astral Finish Festival 2023 in Mexico.
