A minor but notable adjustment to the tournament dates comes alongside confirmation that 24 players have already secured their spots
Capcom have officially announced a slight change in the schedule for the Esports World Cup for Street Fighter 6, following the change in venue from Saudi Arabia to France.
A couple of weeks ago it was disclosed that due to potential security concerns, EWC 2026 would be moving to Paris. In a statement made at the time, the EWC clarified that this is expected to be a temporary measure and that the event will return to Riyadh in 2027.
Along with the change in venue, there has also been a slight adjustment to the dates for the Street Fighter 6 tournament. Formerly, SF6 was scheduled for the fourth week of the event, running from the 28th to the 31st of July 2026. With the venue change, the tournament will now run from the 29th of July to the 1st of August, which represents a shift of one day.
Road to EWC 2026
Twenty-four players have qualified for the tournament so far, with eight spots remaining. Two of those spots will go to the grand finalists at Evo Las Vegas, and another will go to one player from an unspecified tournament. As with the last 2 years, there will be a last chance qualifier, but unlike former events, this one will have only 5 spots for the main event.
Last year, the LCQ was held in Riyadh, but given the same security concerns that prompted the main event's relocation, it seems likely that the LCQ will also need to find a new home. No confirmation has been made on this yet, and further clarification from the organisers is expected as the event draws closer.
