SF6 Might Have Poked Fun At Nintendo With Mai Shiranui Release
Mai is for good boys and girls

The Mai Shiranui trailer for Street Fighter 6 was released by Capcom to a lot of excitement as many people were happy with her design which kept in step with her historical look over the years.

What people also noticed is that Capcom might have been poking a little bit of fun at Nintendo with the release of the teaser.

According to their release post, "Mai will teach you all the Shiranui techniques you can handle—as long as you don't keep her waiting. This good girl from SNK's Fatal Fury series is coming to #StreetFighter6 in early 2025!"

For some, this might have been a joke regarding something Nintendo legend Masahiro Sakurai once said in a video when asked why Mai Shiranui was not included amongst the guest characters brought to Smash Bros.

In the video, Sakurai said something along the lines of the idea that Smash is a family friendly game for people of all ages and Mai's aesthetic doesn't fit that and therefore wasn't included.

In the teaser itself, Mai calls herself a good girl while meeting with the player's avatar.

It is unclear if this was indeed a joke poked at Nintendo. What is clear though, is that Capcom stayed true to Mai's more risque design which hasn't gone unnoticed by the community.

Mai Shiranui will join the Street Fighter 6 cast in early 2025.
