Become a PatronRiot Games joined the list of tech and gaming companies that decided to lay off a significant amount of their staff. The game developer announced that it will close 530 roles, which is around 11% of total employees.
Mostly, the lay-offs will impact teams not connected to the core development of several live titles. In its press release, Riot Games states that these changes will also primarily affect Riot Forge projects and Legends of Runeterra. Nothing was said about Project L, except that the game "has been making great progress".
All laid-off employees will receive six months of severance pay as well as different bonuses. Earlier this year, Discord and Twitch announced laying off 17% and 35% of their staff, respectively.
