Discord Lays Off 17% Of Its Staff
Layoffs across the industry continue.

The beginning of 2024 has become a tough time for those working in the tech industry. Earlier this week, Twitch decided to lay off 500 of its employees, and now The Verge reports that Discord, a gaming-focused social platform, will lay off 17% of its staff (around 170 people from different departments).

According to this report, one of the main goals of Discord is to become profitable, meaning that last year wasn't one. All affected staff will receive five months of salary and benefit continuation as well as other perks.

Considering this is not the first case of lay-offs this year, there will be an influx of talented unemployed people. As for Discord, only time will tell how these changes will affect the company.
