Riddle Order, the esports organization home to players such as Jr. Adelie and Takagi, has announced a new tournament titled the “Riddle Open.”
The event, sponsored by Riddle in partnership with Void Gaming, will feature up to 256 entrants and offer a significant prize for the top two players: a recommendation for a Japan Esports Union (JeSU) license. This license officially recognizes players as professional esports competitors in Japan, allowing them to compete for prize money in sanctioned tournaments.
The tournament will take place from December 3 to December 17. The opening phase will be an online knockout competition, dividing participants into four blocks of 64 players each. The top two players from each block will advance to an eight-player final stage, which will be held offline. The finals will follow a double-elimination format, with best-of-five matches determining the ultimate winner.
Events like the Riddle Open are instrumental in discovering and developing new talent in Japan’s competitive gaming scene. Previous grassroots tournaments have produced stars such as Ryukichi and TS, both of whom now compete in the Street Fighter League.
