Melee and Ultimate — Smash Bros. of the top most level in the region
We are in the middle of the Smash World Tour 2022, with Platinum events happening quite regularly. On July 15-17, the biggest League for Super Smash Bros. games had a stop in Australia. And what matches those were! Let’s grab a cup of tea (or a cold … lemonade) and enjoy many exciting fights on the streams.
Phantom 2022 included four Smash events: Singles and Doubles for Ultimate and Melee. The Singles matches are certainly more interesting — their results affect the general standings in the Smash World Tour.

*Alas, the stream ends right after the Losers Round 4. If the rest of the tournament is available on VODs, we’ll add it here.
Meanwhile, spoiler alert — we already know the result.
iBDW from Panda had a very confident run, with only 3:0 and 3:1 throughout the brackets. After two victories over Zain in the Winners Final and the Grand Final, iBDW got the Champion title. Congratulations!

Nietono from DetonatioN Gaming has proven the power of Pichu in the competitive environment. There were almost no chances for the opponents! Even having somewhat slow starts in the rounds of the Grand Final, Nietono eventually destroyed Wario of DD and claimed the victory. Congratulations!
Quite ironically, both winners of the Australian event Phantom 2022 are actually not from Australia. iBDW is from the USA, and Nietono is a Japanese player. Still, we know how strong Australian Smash players are, so we hope to see the region being decently represented in the world scene.
The next Smash World Tour 2022 event of the Platinum tier is planned for July 29-31 — Fete 2022 in the United Kingdom.
