Nobody Wants to Face Him: FGC Reacts to Zangief vs Marisa Match

So grapplers, eh? You either love them or hate them. This has been the case with Zangief and many other grapplers in Street Fighter games. People tend to love them as characters, but not as opponents. 

Zangief isn't a character that can be considered top-tier, but with what we have seen so far with Street Fighter 6, he just might be a problem, or at least a lot of the FGC thinks so.

Last week, Capcom announced their final real-time commentator, Hikaru Takahashi, and in the trailer, we saw matches between Lily and Cammy, and Zangief and Marisa. The latter really caught people's attention, and now, Capcom has released the full footage of that match. 

The two titans faced off, and we got a glimpse of what they can do including Zangief's Tundra Storm counter. 

People could not help but notice that Zangief looks like he will be a hassle to deal with as he now has more armored moves, and his Spinning Pile Driver seems to do ridiculous damage. Many have, therefore, taken to social media to meme and bemoan their fate. 

The short story is; Zangief mains are pleased, but everyone else is terrified. 

Hate him or love him, there is genuine interest in Street Fighter 6, and as we move ever closer to June 2nd, people are going to keep losing their minds as the wait gets harder. We hope to see some of what the other characters do soon enough.
