A few weeks ago, the first reports surfaced that Legendary Pictures had acquired the rights to the Street Fighter series from Capcom. The deal includes the rights to the TV adaptation and the film, which will be co-produced with a Japanese publisher.
Now new details of the film adaptation have become known. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming feature film based on the Street Fighter franchise has found directors. This position was taken by Australian directors Danny and Michael Philippou, who you may know from their critically acclaimed thriller Talk to Me, which debuted at 2023 Sundance Film Festival, or the YouTube show RackaRacka.
Given that their creative project, balancing the intersection of horror and comedy, already contains an episode dedicated to Street Fighter, there is no doubt that the authors are interested in fighting games. You can check out the video below:
