Mortal Kombat 1 Invasion mode looks to provide players with season content in an interesting new format for the franchise. Unlike the franchise's previous entry called Krypt, Mortal Kombat 1’s single-player focused content presents a table-top-like game for players to explore, find secrets, and eventually unlock more cosmetics through its Seasonal Koins system and chests.
Throughout these guides, we will be exploring the details of Invasions, how to complete them, tips and tricks, and what rewards you can expect on the season of the Spectre.
The Story
The first season of Invasions provides a very simple story. Hanzo Hasashi, the Scorpion in most other timelines, has been hopping from timeline after timeline, looking for one in which he can be with the love of his life, Harumi.
Eventually, in finding Liu Kang’s timeline and seeing Harumi has found love in Kuai Liang, he becomes enraged, vowing to end this timeline.
Invasions Mesas Guides
If you want to revisit some of the other mesas, here are all our detailed guides on each:
The Fire temple, where Geras performs his duty as guardian of the Hourglass. During the events of this first season’s invasions, it has become the place for Hanzo, Scorpion, to plan and execute his plan to cleanse this timeline unless you stop him. To unlock this mesa, you must first finish the Living Forest.
As this is the final mesa of the season, you should be ready to tackle the challenges found within. The Fire Temple is among the smallest of mesas, with a fairly straightforward path and two mini-bosses in the way. You can review all opponents and nodes below.
Entering the area at the first fork, you will find a path to this mesa's first forge. If you head south from Bob, you will find the first Klue node, Risen, with the klue “KCIRT TAH”, which means “Hat Trick” and points you to use Kung Lao’s Kameo fatality.
Moving up into the outskirts of the temple, you can stick to the left path to continue on, eventually reaching the shop and one chest along the way. If you go up and to the right, you will find this mesa’s NetherStone gate. You will first need to finish the Fire Temple mesa before you can return here and complete it. Like every other Netherstone area, it is filled with minibosses and in this case, one chest.

Going into the temple proper, you will face the first mini-boss of the mesa, Liu Kang, before being given the choice to go left or right. On the left side you will find another Klue node, Fainting, with the Klue “Use the element that brings life”, you will want to use Rain’s fatality to complete this one; just north of this node you will also find the second forge.
Remember that you can always check what nodes you have or have not cleared by the path's color leading to them. Any shops or forges you go to but have not opened yet will remain uncleared, so make sure to say hi to the Kollector in your travels, even if you are window shopping.
Uncleared paths are marked in green, cleared ones in light blue and paths you can’t move into in red. You can also follow the green arrow for directions as to the quickest route to the end of the mesa.
Over to the right, you will find the tower Dying Light, which grants you the Sacred Key, the path to the final boss. If you continue north from here, you will cross through this mesa’s chest portal, transporting you to a temporary realm where you linearly pass through multiple chest nodes until a final Test Your Might challenge.
Crossing through the central gate, with the Sacred Key, will lead you to another mini-boss fight, this time versus Li Mei. Going to the right will reward you with another chest, while heading left will lead to the final confrontation of the season, Hellfire Scorpion.
He will be a normal fight for his first phase. Starting the second phase, he will gain the ability to throw fire projectiles and will be engulfed in fire. In his third and final phase, he will start with a survival challenge of fiery timed chains and gain fire armor, as well as setting the whole stage on fire.
The Spectre Ending
Thus, the story of this Hellfire Hanzo Hasashi ended. Once defeated, Liu Kang assisted him in finding a new timeline, one in which Harumi became a scorpion after losing her Hanzo to the evils of Quan Chi. One in which the two are in love and now fighting together against those timeline’s evils.
With the main story of this season over, the only remaining content for you to explore is that of the Gateway Portal mesa. Completing the towers therein for further rewards for the season, including Koins. Remember that all the seasonal Koins you obtain will be wiped after the end of this season, so use them liberally.
