Momochi and Chocoblanka have moved to even bigger things
It was recently announced that Shinobism Gaming will be ending all activities at the end of February 2025.
The news rocked the scene as Shinobism have been something of a stalwart in both the Japanese scene and Street Fighter League Japan. It was also announced that their place would be taken by Zeta Division, another team that until now had no ties to Street Fighter 6.
In a recent interview with Gamespark, Momochi and his wife, Yuko, otherwise known as Chocoblanka, explained the rationale behind disbanding Shinobism Gaming and clarified what the disbandment actually means for everyone involved.
In the interview, Momochi and Chocoblanka explained that they more or less gave up operating under Shinobism Gaming due to some factors including some declining performances and standings. This could be related to some poor showings in recent Street Fighter League seasons where they have been unable to make the playoffs. Momochi also stated that with Street Fighter 6 out and more interest in the game, he felt like his work nurturing young talent was done and he could move on to other things. To this end, it is expected that Zeta Division would be like a spiritual successor to Shinobism.
As for the players signed under Shinobism, some of them have left to go to other teams, and it is even possible that some of them might even move to Zeta Division.
To be clear, Shinobism Inc. is not shutting down and still has plans for collaborations and events, but as a gaming entity, they will indeed be shutting down at the end of February.
It was a very eye-opening article and you can read it all here.
