The power to fight big names

These initial stages of the esports lifespan for MK1 are especially interesting. We can witness the rise of competitive players in the re-imagined environment of this fighting game. And we can learn a lot from pro matches — starting from the characters used in the top-level fights to many cool tricks possible with the new fighting system.

The Mortal Kombat tournament at CEOtaku VII got one of the main spotlights, despite not being an anime game. We could not see a mind-blowing list of MK celebrities here. Perhaps some players still want to have some time to practice. But those who were brave enough to participate in this competition — they delivered such a wonderful show! Let’s enjoy it.

Punk is certainly a big name in fighting esports. He is one of the best in Street Fighter, and he reaches impressive heights in other titles. Are you surprised to see Punk experimenting with Mortal Kombat 1? Facing such an opponent is a challenge in itself.

Punk defeated OD_Fullauto on the way to the Final.

The other Semi-Final, Stryker vs ParsaHP, was pretty interesting — it was a mirror match, and both players used the same main/kameo characters, Havik/Sub-Zero. Then, the guys treated us to the same experience but in the Losers Final. Stryker won both times.

Two other players had identical teams too — Coach Steve and Zintai with Baraka/Cyrax. They did not play each other in Top 8, but it’s still interesting to note.

And sure, if Stryker fell into Losers, he apparently lost to Punk in the Winners Final. But the fight of these players continued in the Grand Final.

The match was super close. First, Stryker won game one, but then Punk reached a match/tournament point. Nope, that did not happen — Stryker got two games and reset the bracket.

The Grand Final Reset gave the feeling that Stryker grabbed that victory. This time it was this guy who got the match/tournament point, and Punk could not recover after this.

Stryker is the Mortal Kombat 1 Champion at CEOtaku VII. Congratulations!

It’s worth mentioning that Coach Steve played at some other CEOtaku VII tournaments and reached Top 8 in them. For example, in Dragon Ball FighterZ and The King of Fighters XV. Punk got 2nd at the SF6 tournament as well.

Mortal Kombat 1 is going to be a big esports title for quite some time. Stay tuned to DashFight for more info about the game! For example, take a look at the results of the MK1 tournament at viennality 2k23. The next big tournament takes place in the Philippines, at REV Major 2023.
