Kakeru has enjoyed life as a Street Fighter 6 player. Top 6 at Evo, First place at Gamers8 Street Fighter 6 Invitational, Top 8 at the CPT Singapore Offline event, he has been one of the top names in the game so far.
Therefore, it is no surprise that he gets a lot of interview requests and he has had interesting things to say. While on Harada's Bar with Tokido, he explained how young his father is and the fact that he was still waiting on the money from the tournament.
He had another interview with Digital+, he explained a number of things, but most notably he talked about his ability with the perfect parry. In the Gamers8 Grand Final against Angrybird, Kakeru executed 32 perfect parries which was just an insane number. It was also something of a meta defining moment as players started to see the possibilities with the perfect parry. Since then, Kakeru has been said to be the master of the parry system in Street Fighter 6.
As to how he is so good at it, Kakeru has what was an unlikely answer— Ryu.
You see, Kakeru, who used to go by the name Uzura, was also a top player in Street Fighter V where he used Ryu. Ryu's V-Skill 1 was called 'Mind's eye' which enabled him to parry moves and a perfect parry afforded him some advantages. Kakeru explained that being intimate with that system really helped him get the hang of the perfect parry in Street Fighter 6.
When asked why he uses JP, he answered that it was down to the character's design and he even compared some of JP's fighting style with Akuma who he also used in Street Fighter V.
He added later that he would like to use Akuma when he comes out next year and will also want to dabble in some other characters later in the game.
Kakeru would also talk about Street Fighter League Japan saying that he would like to be in it, but he would prefer to be under team IBUSHIGIN. One of his teammates, Kabe, is in the league with Saishunkan Sol Kumamoto, but IBUSHIGIN is yet to be on the league roster, a situation Kakeru hopes will change sooner, rather than later.
Kakeru is yet to qualify for Capcom Cup, and he is running out of options. He is currently sitting 6th in the World Warrior Standing in Jaipan meaning he is still in the running for the Regional Finals. The online Japan CPT Premiere is yet to hold, so he will definitely be in for that and will hope to win any of those to seal his spot in Capcom Cup.
In the immediate future though, he will be attending the offline CPT event in France and will hope to do better than top 8 this time around.
