Japanese City Draws In Tourists With Street Fighter Characters
Street Fighter is a major part of their tourism industry

The city of Kashihara, in Nara, Japan, has been trying to draw in more and more tourists lately and they have made use of a very useful tool— Street Fighter.

Starting from 2022, Kashihara entered into a deal with Capcom in which they will be able to use Street Fighter characters as a way of bringing people into the city. Therefore, there are statues of Ken, Ryu and Chun li in parts of the city. There is also other merchandise from the popular game that can be found all over the city.

Kashihara prides itself in being the very first capital of Japan from 694-710AD.

This news report came to light from a report from Nikkei Asia which covered this transformation of the city into something like a Street Fighter city.

Nara has deep connections with Capcom as it is where the company's CEO Kenzo Tsujimoto was born in 1940. With Capcom being one of the biggest gaming companies in the world and the success of Street Fighter over the years, this seems like a fitting tribute.
