Two extra faces, a surprise difficulty rating, and a stage creation intro — there is a lot to unpack from the latest SF6 reveal
Ingrid, the latest character to join the Street Fighter 6 roster, has had her game face revealed. As is customary with new characters, after the gameplay trailer, Capcom releases the game face screen, which shows the character on the selection screen, their walk-out routine, and the poses they strike before the start of the bout.
Ingrid's screen appears to feature six different faces, two more than the other characters have. Fans have noticed this, with one user on X speculating that she either has the ability to customise her game faces or that unique faces appear depending on the costume selected.
What Else Has The Ingrid Video Shown Us?
Beyond her faces, the video also revealed her playstyle through the stat card displayed beside the character on screen. Ingrid is a zoner, and her stat card lists her range, ease of use, and type. She is categorised as a tricky character, meaning she will rely on faking out opponents and keeping them guessing as to her next move. She is also listed as normal difficulty to use, which will surprise many. Given her catalogue of moves, most would have expected her to sit in the hard category.
Another interesting fact is what happens when she's on the select screen. Apparently, another Ingrid walks on, touches the one on the screen, which then transforms into one of her dolls called a Monoid, and she then proceeds to embrace. This could mean a couple of things: one, the monoids might have the power to transform into her likeness, acting as a clone of sorts. Two, the monoids are actually different versions of her in different universes. Whatever the case, it seems like a little detail that could have implications for her lore.
Her walk-out in the pre-fight screen is cheerful and nonchalant, playing neatly into her pixie-like demeanour. Most striking of all is what happens before the match begins. Rather than a standard intro, Ingrid appears to will the stage itself into existence, conjuring the surrounding environment before engaging in combat. It is a small detail, but one that says a great deal about how Capcom has built her character identity into every layer of her presentation.
Fans will be able to try her out at Evo Japan at the Capcom booth. Note that a separate ticket will be required to access the booth, so plan accordingly if you are attending. She will be available in the game next month, marking the start of the fourth season of what has become Capcom's most successful fighting game in two decades.
