Evo 2022: All the Amazing Stuff You Might Have Missed From Day 3
The FGC's biggest tournament is now over and here are the exciting things you might not be aware of

Evo 2022 is officially and what a way to end! The event was an unequivocal success and many are either heading home or getting some well-deserved rest after a most amazing weekend.

With events starting from 10 am local time, and not finishing up till well past midnight, there is some stuff you might have missed and in this recap for day three, we'll be going over the main stuff you might have missed. There were announcements for all the games showcased and some pretty intense fighting game action.

Let's get to it.

Announcements

New Team For KOF XV and Garou

Team Awakened Orochi had been announced earlier and fans were already looking forward to it, but the SNK team had more to showcase as they also announced that another team, Team Samurai, would be the 4th DLC team added to the roster. Team Samurai consists of Haohmaru, the protagonist from the Samurai Showdown series who is well known to fighting game fans everywhere. He is joined by an absolute monster from KOF XIV, Nakoruru, and the team is rounded out by Darli Dagger from the 2019 iteration of the game.

Season 2 of King of Fighters XV was also confirmed with more DLC characters on the horizon, including Shingo Yabuki and Kim Kaphwan. Furthermore, the SNK team confirmed that the game will have crossplay and will also feature proper netcode.

As if that was not enough, the guys from SNK lifted fans even further with the announcement that Garou Mark of the Wolves 2 has been greenlit. The original Garou game came out in the late 90s and was a part of the KOF/Fatal Fury universe.

Tekken 8 on the Way?

The next major announcement was possibly for Tekken 8. The next Tekken game has been eagerly anticipated and there was much hope going into Evo that there would be some sort of announcement about the game. While the people got an announcement, there is no definitive answer as to whether it is a new Tekken game. The trailer shown at Evo first featured an announcement of the Tekken World Tour and also confirmed that a new balance update will be coming this month which will further enhance the game. Then there was an announcement of the Tekken World Tour finals taking place in Amsterdam early next year. After this, we got a very short teaser that showed the infamous scene with Kazuya Mishima carrying his father's body over the cliff. There was a close-up of his face, which twisted into a smile and then morphed into a more realistic face with the smile looking a lot more menacing along with a red eye. The phrase 'Get Ready' accompanied this teaser, but that was all we got.

Fans are unsure if it is for Tekken 8, but optimism is high that this is the case.

Check out the trailer below and decide for yourself.

New Characters For SF6

On the Street Fighter side of things, we already know that a new game is coming out, so that was not news to anyone. What was of interest, however, was the new characters being introduced to the game. At the end of the Evo 2022 SFV tournament, we got a glimpse of two new characters: Juri Han, and Kimberly. The trailer for both characters look awesome, and they are now the 6th and 7th characters introduced to the game after seeing Ryu, Chun li, Jamie, Luke and Guile.

New Guilty Gear -STRIVE- Character

Guilty Gear -STRIVE- was the most popular game of the night, and they finished things off with a new character reveal. Coming off the back of their announcement on Day 2 about their road map for production, we got our first glimpse at a new character in Bridget. Bridget first appeared in Guilty Gear X2 and is one of the more beloved characters in the series. She joins May in the small girls club for Guilty Gear, and she looks amazing.

We also saw that she is the first character of Season 2, and we are now on the lookout for three more characters to round out the season.
