There are some groups of note, especially Group EE, which has last year's winner, Xiao Hai, a former winner and Capcom Cup champion, Kakeru, Evo 2024 winner, Punk, and then Tachikawa. The prominent Japanese coach, Tachikawa, has even made jokes about it, saying that of all the players, he is the one with the least amount of accolades and prestige and adding that if he can somehow make it out of the group stage, that must mean he'll win the whole thing.
Another group of note is Group FF which is completely taken over by Japanese players, and speaking of the Japanese, they make up 45% of the players qualified for the event which means that the overwhelming odds are that a Japanese player will win the tournament.
Group FF has Gachikun who is also a former Capcom Cup winner, Torimeshi, Moke, and the Zangief specialist, Jr.
The action kicks off from the 20th of August 2025.
