DBFZ TGU 2023 Results: A French Man in Thailand

There are not too many Power Events left for the DBFZ World Tour 2023/2024. In fact, we have only UFA later in November — after a tournament of this level is over at Thaiger Uppercut 2023.

The fight for a spot at the upcoming Global Finals surely motivates the competitors to take long trips and just do their best. The event took place in Thailand, and its core matches were between two guest players, from France and Japan.

A Frenchman who decided to travel to Thailand for this Power Event opportunity is WADE. At this point, it feels like a good tradition, that sometimes brings excellent results (like his trip to Clash of the Olympics in Greece), and sometimes it brings… not the best ones (like VSFighting XI in the UK). Was the current long journey worth it?

For Oblivion, the physical distance to Thailand is not that huge — Japan is much closer than France. But the motivation to prove himself is as high (with no Japanese Power Event this season).

WADE played Kefla/Cell/Lab Coat through almost the whole Top 8 part, and the team took him as far as the Grand Final. In the Winners Final, WADE had quite a close victory over Oblivion.

The Japanese player also stuck to one team for quite a long time (Lab Coat, Blue Goku, Adult Gohan), which helped Oblivion to reach the Grand Final too and then even reset the bracket.

After losing GF, WADE changed the team, bringing Hit back to the action. That did not help at once, but after losing game one, WADE kind of unleashed his true strength.

Oblivion also decided to switch to another team. But it was probably late…
