Dragon Ball FighterZ Gets A New Character 4 Years After Its Last DLC
But it might not be made by ArcSys.

Out of nowhere, Bandai Namco announced in 2025 that Dragon Ball FighterZ will be getting a new DLC in Spring of 2026, adding Goku (SS4, Daima) to the game.

And well, he's just a day away from release, you can check out the trailer below.

This is only a brief glimpse of gameplay, but Daima Goku could turn out to be pretty cool, as he should come with a unique "Wild Dash" mechanic that branches into 4 other techniques.

However, what attracted most attention during this reveal, is that this Goku is seemingly not made with involvement of Arc System Works, at least not entirely.

WaffletimeCat and their group in Discord voice chat were some of the first to notice it, and they made a separate post actually pinpointing the issue that makes Daima Goku stand out.

It comes down to the fact that unlike the rest of DBFZ, Daima is animated on 8s instead of 4s. If you're not familiar with the terminology, 1s/2s/3s/etc. in animation refers to how many frames pass before a new frame of animation is used.

In a game that is locked to 60fps, 4s means that every 4th frame will be new, and 8s is... well, that's twice as slow. New frames are further away from each other, and it results in visuals that appear choppier.

As WaffletimeCat points out, even though the animation is on 8s instead of 4s, the animation itself is not exactly bad, and it's nothing that Bandai Namco can't fix. And if they do fix it? That means they are capable of producing further DLCs and continue supporting the game.

Also, while this isn't definitive proof that ASW wasn't involved, it is further supported by inspecting Daima's model. By taking a closer look, AreCreeps noticed that the way they handled the model is fundamentally different from how ASW used to do it.

As you can see, ASW model is much smoother, especially when it comes to the muscle. Meanwhile, new Goku Daima is extremely spherical, with obvious seams between groups of muscles and major bumps. The shading that results from it still looks good, but it is a very different approach.

Regardless of who made and animated the model, it will be interesting to see how this all plays out, and if this new DLC might lead to a new era of DBFZ.
