The 1.42 update fixes a persistent jumping-attack bug and adjusts hitboxes, movement, and assist mechanics across the roster.

The DRAGON BALL FighterZ developers released their latest balance update, version 1.42, for PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox, and Switch. This patch fixes a significant system issue: for certain characters, performing a jumping Unique Attack or a Jumping plus Unique Attack move after a Simple Dash would mistakenly trigger a Super Dash upon hitting an opponent. The glitch has now been fixed across all platforms.

Beyond the system-wide fix, the patch includes targeted adjustments and fixes for many cast members. For instance:

  • Frieza had hitbox changes to his crouching medium attack’s first hit, and his “Nova Strike” was modified to include movement on startup.
  • Gohan (Teen) saw his projectiles adjusted so that their travel distance is now altered when they go off-screen.
  • Assist and special-move fixes hit roster-wide, including Zamasu (Fused), Android 21, Videl and others.

For competitive players and communities, this patch could shift some minor dynamics, but doesn’t appear to radically overhaul the cast or fundamental mechanics.
