CPT Brazil: RoanldinhoBR Takes His Place Among the Capcom Cup Titans
Ronaldinho took his chance to make it to the Capcom Cup

RonaldinhoBR was the winner in last weekend's Capcom Pro Tour in Brazil, taking the set in grand finals against JUNINHO-RAS 3-2, and will be rewarded for his efforts with a place at Capcom Cup.

The Brazilian region is a large one with so many great players making the CPT a huge opportunity to bypass the slugfest that is the World Warrior Program. Ronaldinho was a favorite heading into the tournament because he is also the last winner of the Brazil CPT. He did not disappoint, using his Nash to great effect.

The top 8 bracket featured some familiar names, including Dark and former CPT winner, Jah_Lexe. There were a few new faces, most notably JUNINHO-RAS who is relatively new to the scene and hasn't really featured in international tournaments. He really rose to prominence in 2021 when he placed in the top 2 at the Intel World Open - South America Regional: Brazil - Open Qualifier #4. His run in the losers' bracket was remarkable as he used Luke to terrorize his opponents. After getting sent to losers by Dark, he beat Gust, Horuspaulin and Dark (all 3-1 results) before succumbing to Ronaldinho's pressure.

Top 8 for CPT Brazil

Ronaldinho's win was great for him as he hasn't done too well in the World Warrior Series for Brazil, where he currently sits in 19th place with 11 points. Dark is at the top of the leaderboard with 80 points and three tournaments to go. This only goes to show the power of the Brazilian scene.

JUNINHO-RAS meanwhile, sits in 5th place with 35 points and will need to do a whole lot to remain in the top 8.

Ronaldinho took to his Twitter to celebrate his win and intimated that he was almost overcome with nerves due to how badly he wanted to make it to Capcom Cup and that this might have affected his gameplay.

The Capcom Pro Tour will go on a break for a couple of weeks before returning on the 24th of September with the Nordic/Baltic region. RonaldinhoBR is now player number 13 to qualify, and we look forward to who the next name on that list will be.
