CPT Asia East: NL Makes His Way to Capcom Cup
The South Korean pioneer is the latest player to make it into Capcom Cup IX

With only three more Capcom Pro Tour online tournaments left, we have another winner from Asia East, this time in the person of NL. The South Korean was one of the favorites to take his region, and he duly delivered, winning 3-1 after a grand final reset against another favorite in Oil King. This ensures UYU representation in Capcom Cup, with both finalists being members of the esports organization.

The top 8 was a thrilling affair, with the best players from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and South Korea coming together to show their mettle.

Top 8 Asia East

NL was in excellent form, winning both his games in top 8 3-0 and only losing games to Oil King in the grand final. While he won using Luke, this was by no means a performance where the player is carried by the character, but rather having a character elevated by a player. Sure, we have another Luke in Capcom Cup, but there was actually a lot of character diversity in this region. This was typified by Xiaobao, who impressed using Lucia, Vega, and Ken

Xiaobao had a great top 8, sending Oil King to losers before succumbing to NL and then Oil King to crash out, but he was really enjoying himself.

There were also great games featuring HotDog 28, Daimon, and Armperor. As expected of a legend like HotDog, while in losers, he threatened to go on a tear, winning 3-0 in each of his first two games before eventually falling to Oil King.

With this result, NL becomes the 17th person to qualify for Capcom Cup with the others left with the option of winning their World Warrior Regional Final to qualify for the most prestigious Street Fighter event of the year.

There are only three more CPT online qualifying events, including Asia, Europe East, and North America East. After these events, there will be a series of World Warrior Regional Finals to wrap up the year, and then we'll have the final list of qualifiers for Capcom Cup

NL was certainly pleased with his win, and it caps another great year for him. If you want to watch more of NL, catch him on Street Fighter League USA, where he's on the UYU team with Oil King, Xian, and DCQ. Also, you can check out his Twitch.
