A grand collection of top players for the return of Kumite to New York
The competition for this year's Red Bull Kumite is looking better and better, as there are 8 invited players on the roster; we have already heard of the existing legends coming over. Is now time to watch out for the challengers who have shown they could maybe shake the standings at the top of the hill.
The four players selected are:
- Chris Wong
- The Hongkongese player has been making waves from the Pacific to the Atlantic, earning a shocking win over MenaRD to CPT's France major and, in the same month, claiming second place in his own regional final.
- iDom
- Undoubtedly a well-known player for many in the Street Fighter Scene. He will be coming in as a local to the New York Kumite, and with a DreamHack Atlanta 4th place finish, he might lay claim to a top spot here once again.
- AgryBird
- Coming off his best year yet in 2023 with a number of wins at majors, the only question as to AngryBird's ability remains his head-scratching 9th place finish for Red Bull Kumite South Africa. A chance at redemption and claiming another title for his growing trophy room.
- Hibiki
- One of the rising stars in the Japanese Street Fighter scene, breaking into the scene with SF6, Hibiki has been grinding his way through the competition. Of all the invited players, he remains the most unproven but might also be a dark horse in the competition.
