Capcom Games Will Be Expensive
Company cites rising development costs as the cause.

For a while now, the gaming industry has been moving towards more expensive releases that start at 60 USD and then only go up with different tiers and editions. It's common for games to feature secondary revenue sources like DLCs, subscriptions, or various microtransactions.

Despite that, some titles are moving towards a steeper price point of 70 USD, like the recently released AAAA-game from Ubisoft, Skull & Bones. Capcom have recently joined this trend with Dragon's Dogma 2, their first 70 dollar title.

Their recent earnings call suggests that this is a new direction rather than a one-off, as they cite an industry-wide rise in development costs. They go on to state that will carefully review the user feedback and approach the topic carefully, but so far it certainly seems like we should expect 70 dollars to be the new norm for Capcom.

If you recall, just last year the President of Capcom, Haruhiro Tsujimoto, said that games should cost more, as development costs are around 100 times higher than the Famicom era, when games were exceptionally cheap to make and still had a 60 dollar price tag, when not more.
