Capcom Introduces New Premier Point Distribution For CPT 2025
The new CPT format should be exciting for players and fans

During the 2024 Capcom Pro Tour season, one of the most regular complaints was that the points system which used to be the norm before 2019 had largely disappeared and had been replaced by the World Warrior system.

This led to less travel and even a drop off in the prestige of some events as there wasn't an incentive to travel for them.

However, the new CPT format will be a partial return to a global leaderboard system.

In an announcement just after Capcom Cup wrapped up, Capcom announced that for the new season, they would be re-introducing a points system. So, for the 8 premiers that will be holding, the players who take 2nd-25th spot will gain points after which the top 6 on the table will qualify for Capcom Cup.

This seems to be a good way to bring back a points system and yet still persist with the World Warrior system which has brought forward some underrepresented regions with players like Blaz and Salvatore.

Things will kick off from Evo Japan 2025 which will hold in May.
