It was Europe vs North America…
DreamHack San Diego is absolutely great for quite a few reasons. The prize pool for Brawlhalla tournaments is impressive — it’s $70k for Doubles and Singles. It’s an open event that gathers players from different regions. And sure, it’s an offline competition, so we can see the matches in their pure, no-lag intensity.
After two days of pools and Top 32 brackets, we reached the final matches of the Doubles section.
To make it to this point, acno? and Blaze defeated java and Fakey, and that was a pretty tough fight.
In a similar close match, Maid and Experience won over megD and Raydish.
Here is how the Top 4 situation looked like at the start of this final day:
Brawlhalla 2v2 at DreamHack San Diego 2023: Stream, Top 4
acno? and Blaze were the only European players left — not only in the 2v2 tournaments but also in the Singles one. That was quite a pressure, but the guys know how to handle that.
In the Winners Final, acno? / Blaze exchanged games with Maid / Experience but then reached the match point and did not let this opportunity go.
Raydish was an absolute hero of the Elimination Semi-Final. The player won a 1v2 situation and sealed the success of the team with megD.
The Elimination Final clearly demonstrated why 2v2 Brawlhalla matches are so fun. After quite a madness of team fights, Maid and Experience made it to the Grand Final.
In the first two games of the Grand Final, acno? and Blaze were just unstoppable. In game 3, Maid and Experience managed to resist the European power, but that wasn’t enough.
3:0, and acno? and Blaze are 2v2 Brawlhalla Champions at DreamHack San Diego 2023. Congratulations!
