Jago’s story began when he was abandoned by his parents and left in front of a temple in the Himalayas as a baby. They raised him as their own, and Jago grew up to be a strong warrior, maybe too strong. One day, a fellow monk attacked him under the influence of evil powers, and Jago killed him in self-defense. In self-imposed punishment, Jago left the temple, becoming a hermit and focusing on his inner strength.
During his meditations, a Tiger Spirit visited him, granting Jago immense power and telling him to enter the Ultratech’s Killer Instinct tournament in order to destroy them. At the time, he couldn’t perceive that the spirit was not what it seemed and kept competing until he almost killed Orchid, his long-lost sister.
After coming back from the tournament, he tried to quell the negative feelings growing inside him, but it was too late. The Tiger Spirit turned out to be the projection of Gargos and overtook Jago, turning him into the entity known as Shadow Jago. As Jago began to fight within his own mind, Shadow Jago caused chaos and destruction in the name of Gargos.
While he successfully fought back the evil spirit and regained control, he freed Omen in the process. As such, he seeks to find and destroy him, all while ensuring that his mind will never again fall to corruption.
Befitting a Tibetian monk, Jago is a calm and composed man who doesn’t let emotions overwhelm him. Out of all the people, he only shows a meaningful connection with his sister, Orchid.
When it comes to battle, he’s just as fierce and ready as his competition. While he does his best to control himself, Jago still struggles with the corrupting influence of Gargos. Should he ever fail to resist, Omen would possess him and take control.
Jack of all trades. Jago has almost everything you could want in a character without any major downsides. He has projectiles, extra mobility options, excellent reversal, punishment, solid defense, and the best meter gain in the game. While he’s certainly quite a good character, he’s also a fairly straightforward one. Because of this, his combos can be relatively easy to break, and he has to rely on the basics to outplay opponents.
Jago is a tall, muscular man with medium-length black hair slicked to the side and a large tiger tattoo that covers his left arm and left side of his torso. He wears an improvised outfit that consists of a face mask, red and gold sash made out of ropes, improvised vambraces, baggy blue pants tightened with rope, tiger head-shaped knee armor, and waraji sandals.
