Steve Fox is a British boxer who was introduced in Tekken 4. His past is shrouded in mystery and he has been competing in the Tekken tournaments as a way to find out more about his past.
Steve was born using the genes of Nina Williams in a bid to create super soldiers and replicate the Devil gene present in Kazuya and later, Jin. Unfortunately, the experiment was mostly a failure as the babies raised in the experiment all died save one. This one was known as Subject NT01, or Steve who grew up in the laboratory. While there, he forms a bond with one of the scientists, Emma Kliesen, who is sad about what has happened to Steve and helps him escape by faking his death.
Once away from the laboratory, Steve is taken in and raised to lead a normal life. He turns out to be a well adjusted boy with a love for boxing. He is a middleweight fighter who stands by the integrity of the sport. So when Steve is approached by a shady organization known as ‘the Syndicate’ to throw a match, he refuses and wins the match instead. But, this makes him an enemy of the Syndicate and they do all they can to kill Steve.
While in hiding, Steve decides to stop staying in the shadows and enter into the fourth King of Iron Fist tournament to find out the truth of his past and the strange scar on his arm.
Through the tournaments, he meets Lei Wulong who aids him in finding a fragment of truth about his past in that he was made by the Mishima Zaibatsu. Enraged, he vows revenge against the organization that made him this way.
He is able to get some revenge by destroying a few key locations of the Mishima Zaibatsu. However, the mystery of his parents remains.
He is able to finally meet Nina and realize that she is his mother. But, he is dismayed when Nina announces that she wants nothing to do with him and that his existence is an inconvenience for her.
Unable to engage in boxing due to the worldwide war, and despondent over his mother’s rejection, Steve loses his way a bit. His friends, Paul Phoenix and Marshall Law, try to snap him out of it and suggest a training camp. He refuses, but is heartened by their concern. He decides to still partake in the tournament, but train in a new style and carve a new future for himself.
Steve is an affable character with a good nature which draws many friends to him. He has a darker, angrier side due to his murky past, but tries to do his best in whatever situation he finds himself. He is a person of integrity, evidenced by his refusal to throw a fight. He is also someone who stands up for others which is shown when he fights to protect Nina even after just hearing from her that she isn’t interested in being his mother.
Steve is a character who relies solely on his punches. His style is relatively simple and he seeks to evade attacks while landing plenty of his own. His evasive maneuvers are impressive but could be blown up if misused.
Steve’s blonde hair stands out and he typically slicks it back so it doesn’t cover his eyes which are a stunning blue. He wears a blue jacket with a crest on one side while he also wears a red pair of pants which the Union Jack on one side. He wears black shoes and blue gloves to complete the look.
