Back in the times of the first Tekken, Marshall Law had a dream. He wanted to open his dojo and teach students his unique style of martial arts (you know, “Marshall arts”). Achieving this goal by working in a Chinese restaurant was rather impossible, so the guy decided to participate in the very first King of Iron Fist Tournament.
The event did not bring him the glorious victory, but it still led Marshall to success. The experience and reputation helped the fighter to open a dojo and be relatively successful with it. Alas, It’s the point when life prepared troubles for Marshall Law. The Taekwondo champion Baek Doo San attacked the building and literally destroyed it, harming the students. Even more money was needed to repair the damage, so the King of Iron Fist Tournament 2 was a natural choice for Marshall. Moreover, the guy got an additional motivation — to avenge Baek Doo San.
The revenge part went quite well, and the enemy was defeated at the tournament. As for the money part… The victory remained a dream to follow. But again, the experience of being part of such an event let Marshall Law move forward and reach the next level in his business. Not only did he re-open the dojo, but also, he founded a pretty big chain of Chinese restaurants. What could go wrong at this point?
Forest Law, Marshall’s son, got inspired by Paul Phoenix.to try and participate in the third Tekken tournament — despite the direct order of his father not to fight outside their dojo. The affair did not bring success to Forest, and he left home to wander around the world.
Then, a mighty competitor used their connections to eliminate Marshall’s restaurant business. This time, the money problems came hand-in-hand with depression. Marshall started drinking, wasting his time and energy. The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4 gave him new hope, but… The guy did not win again, and he found himself unable to pay for a ticket home. Marshall tried to illegally work at a Chinese restaurant in Japan, and eventually, he was deported for breaking the immigration law.
Meanwhile Forest got into an accident while riding a motorbike of Paul Phoenix. A lot of money was needed to pay various bills. Can one more Tekken tournament help Marshall obtain the necessary funds?
This time, the fighter decided not to rely on himself only. He formed a team with his best friend, Paul Phoenix. And he invited Steve Fox to join them. Is this some kind of curse for Marshall to never win those tournaments?
Troubles with the son and worries about money made the guy forget his dojo responsibilities. Students were leaving him, so Marshall Law realized he needed a substitute for this role. Paul Phoenix wasn't the right choice due to his carefree nature. Maybe a martial artist from China Marshall has heard about can become that person. The fighter has to travel and challenge the candidate to check his worthiness.
Marshall Law is a friendly person who cares deeply for those who are close to him. Family is the main treasure for Marshall, and he is ready to risk it all to support them.
Another side of his personality is to be somewhat hasty in decisions and actions. He quickly jumps to new ideas and dedicates himself to them. Also, Marshall Law easily loses his patience if someone annoys him. Starting a fight is often his best (and certainly wrong) solution.
With the development of the Tekken series, Marshall Law has become more mature. Fighting for justice is one of his motives now.
As a Tekken character, Marshall Law is the most effective at a close range, having an impressive set of quick pokes and confusing high-low mixups. Long-range tools of his opponents and their offensive style may become problems for the fighter. Players need to use conditioning with Marshall Law to force their game and control matches.
Marshall Law is a Chinese martial artist, and his appearance clearly resembles Bruce Lee. He has no shirt, demonstrating his impressive muscles. His trousers are covered with interesting decorations, and his arms have protective cloth.
