The Boys Star Karl Urban Might Join Mortal Kombat 2 as Johnny Cage
Production of the sequel will start this summer in Australia

Mortal Kombat 2, the sequel to the 2021 live-action movie, might be closing a deal to get Karl Urban as Johnny Cage.

According to The Wrap, The Boys star is now in the final stages of negotiations to participate in the film. Production on the film will begin this summer in Australia with Simon McQuoid in the director's chair. Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica MacNamee as Sonya Blade, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion will also feature in the sequel.

Urban may also be known to you as Judge Dredd in the 2012 rebootEomer in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, or Skurge in Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok alongside Chris Hemsworth, Cate Blanchett, and Mark Ruffalo. If the deal does go through, then it is likely that we will have an exciting interpretation of the character of Johnny Cage, who has been holding a rank in the legacy fighter lineup for many years.

The release date for Mortal Kombat 2 is still unknown. However, this may change this year, along with a highly anticipated announcement from NetherRealm Studios, which they teased earlier this week:

In April, it also became known about the start of production of a film adaptation of another cult franchise. Legendary Pictures acquired the rights to the Street Fighter series from Capcom and will co-produce the new movie with a Japanese company.
