Tekken Legend's Insane Evo Run in Melty Blood: Type Lumina
Jimmyjtran proves once again that he can compete in anything!

Those who have been following Jimmyjtran for a long time, you already know that the man has been an accomplished competitor in more than just Tekken, with accomplishments in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, Street Fighter X Tekken, and others. However, the last few years we've scarcely seen him appear on the big stage, which changed with his latest run at Evo 2023 that really highlighted Jimmyj's versatility once again.

The Bryan GOAT even DQd from his Tekken bracket and went on to have a run in Melty Blood: Type Lumina that defied all expectations. Early into his pools, the man had to face the winner of Evo 2022, Jing. It was a complete defeat at 0-2 for Jing, but Jimmyjtran didn't give up and believed in his ability to adapt to whatever comes next.

Using Ciel, he clawed his way up the losers bracket all the way to Top 6. That alone is an accomplishment, but it's the fights in the top 6 that really marked his run as exceptional. His first opponent was KoreanWrestlingMan, a seasoned anime player and fighting game competitor with years of Melty Blood experience.

And yet, he managed to score a clean 2-0 victory, leading into an unbelievable fight that defied all expectations. He now had to face Jing, the Type Limina Evo champion who previously knocked him down into the losers bracket.

However, this time, Jing was fighting a different Jimmyjtran, a more prepared and experienced one.

His ability to adapt within a single tournament ran is immediately obvious here. As MajinObama deftly pointed out in his commentary (shout out to him and Jaidlyn btw, Melty Blood Top 6 commentary was phenomenally good) Jimmyjtran showed one of his strengths that the Tekken fans will immediately recognize. He is incredibly good at observing and understanding how his opponents play the game, and then planning his actions around it.

The tense 2-1 set served as proof of his abilities, leading up to the losers finals against Dai.

His fight against Dai followed many similar patterns, going neck to neck in the first half with both players sitting at 1 match each, but Dai's Roa proved to be a real menace, shutting down or avoiding much of Jimmyj's pressure and retaliating with some serious damage every single time he found an opening.

This set concluded with 1-3, leaving Jimmyjtran as the 3rd best (out of 554) Melty Blood: Type Lumina player at Evo 2023. His matches were incredible to follow, and we're very excited to see more of them in the future!
