The beloved indie fighter reaches a small yet meaningful milestone.
Melty Blood: Type Lumina launched back in 2021, and even though it faced some issues on launch, like spotty rollback and the infamous shield changes that weren't well received, it would eventually reach a great state, which allowed the game to sustain a dedicated playerbase and slowly thrive.
Just recently, French Bread celebrated an important milestone of reaching 600,000 sales.
This might not seem like a lot when we see behemoths like Street Fighter 6 report 6,000,000 units sold after just a few years, but for a humble indie fighter that was made on a lower budget and received less marketing, selling 600k copies is a respectable achievement.
Not to mention, they've done so while steadily adding free DLC characters during the game's more active period, which made the game an even better deal over time.
Hopefully between Under Night 2 and Type Lumina, French Bread continues to perform well. Aside from some technical issues and network hiccups, they have been putting out some of the most fundamentally solid and expressive modern fighting games, so it would be great to see more of their games in the future.
