There doesn't seem to be an end in sight
Character strength is always something that is going to be debated among fans and fighting game players, but in the world of Tekken 8, it seems that those arguments are becoming a tad heated.
Bryan, a character from Tekken 8 has become the topic of a great controversy that has somehow gotten two of the greatest players of the game, Knee and Arslan Ash, bickering.
Knee, who has been using Bryan since the start of the game, has maintained that the character is decent but not one of the strongest, a stance that many other players, including Arslan Ash take exception to.
Knee has been particularly vocal about Bryan because many are calling for nerfs to the character which would definitely affect his viability to a player like Knee.
Things kicked off recently when Rip, a popular influencer in the Tekken scene tweeted saying that Bryan was a top 3 character that needed serious nerfs, something which Knee responded to, stating that if Bryan was top 3, more people would use him and qualify for Tekken World Tour finals with him, but that isn't the case.
Arslan Ash hit back with a video in which he asked some fellow players if they thought Bryan was a top character to which they all agreed that he was. Ash also said that he didn't believe that anyone needs to play the character to know that he was a top character. Again, Knee hit back wondering why Arslan Ash doesn't play the character since he has a tendency of going for top meta characters in the game.
Knee put out a final post stating he does not believe that Bryan is weak, but is concerned that top players seem to be complaining about him in hopes of getting him nerfed so as to reduce his threat in the competitive landscape.
Fans are obviously divided on this as some agree with Knee's assessment while others claim that Bryan is indeed in need to some pretty heavy nerfs. It is unclear if Bandai Namco will consider all this when the next balance patch comes out for the game.
At the moment, Knee sits on top of the Tekken World Tour global leaderboard with 1,615 points with Arslan Ash in 4th place with 1,281 points and the two are most likely to qualify for the finals which will take place later this year.
