Street Fighter League Japan Postponed Till August
With so many tournaments, the league needs to find a way to maneuver

Street Fighter League Japan 2024 which was slated to start from July, has now been postponed till August.

This was made known by the Capcom esports account which released a very short statement on social media saying that the event will be postponed for about a month and that official dates will be revealed once decided.

No explanation was given as to why this is the case, but it could simply be the fact that the period when it is to start is quite busy. For instance, there is the Topanga Championship 5 which will run till the middle of July and Evo 2024 is also taking place in July running from the 19th to the 21st of the month. Then August will feature the Esports World Cup tournament for Street Fighter 6 which should happen between the 7th and 14th of August 2024.

With so many tournament and commitments, it might be why the SFL have decided to move the league to August. If this is the case, then we can expect a date of late August as the start of the tournament. During the league season, there might need to be some allowances within the schedule to allow players partake in other tournaments that could qualify them for Capcom Cup. With the introduction of premiers and super premiers, tournaments that might have been skipped by Japanese pros, like East Coast Throwdown or Cream City Convergence, have now taken on greater importance as they are routes to qualify for Capcom Cup which will mean further disruption to the league's schedule.
