Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, and The King of Fighters XV have been officially selected as medal events for the 20th Asian Games, set to take place in Aichi-Nagoya in 2026.
The announcement was made by the Japan eSports Union (JeSU), which confirmed that these three fighting game titles are among the 13 selected for the event. The full lineup spans multiple gaming genres, including MOBAs, battle royale titles, and sports simulation games.
This marks the second time fighting games will be featured as medal events at the Asian Games, the first being in 2022 during the tournament held in Hangzhou, China.
JeSU has played a key role in promoting fighting games within the broader traditional sports ecosystem. Notably, it was also recently announced that esports titles will feature at the upcoming Olympic Esports Games, set to be hosted in Saudi Arabia.
