Street Fighter 6 Developers Share Details About the Game's Future
New interview from IGN has Takayuki Nakayama and Shuhei Matsumoto talking about what's going on with Street Fighter 6.

A somewhat overlooked interview from IGN has recently been popping up, and as is usually the case, most of the information found within is vague and coated in several layers of corporate speak.

However, it does contain few nuggets of info that should be interesting to Street Fighter fans.

Just for fun, let's try to summarize some of these answers while filtering out the corpo media training that frames them.

Q: Do you have any sort of roadmap for what you want to add to the game in its planned 10-year lifespan?

A: We're not actually planning to support it for 10 years, we just hope it can last that long. And yes we are planning some things but we can't share details about World Tour at the moment.

Q: So the future of single player content is bright?

A: Hopefully.

Q: Now that the resources are freed up from World Tour, will we see more frequent DLC releases?

A: No, because people who worked on World Tour have a specific skillset and we can't move them to work on other things.

Q: Will you release more costumes or outfits for all characters, like the jerseys?

A: Yes, we want to do both costumes and outfits.

Q: We're seeing Yasmine at Evo, but can you tell us how other characters from this season will play?

A: No, but here are some superficial details: Arjun's style will incorporate dancing, Tifa will incorporate Materia, and Bosch will be different from how he found in World Tour.

Q: Any plans to make adjustments to Drive Rush? Also, how much do you listen to player feedback?

A: No, and we do listen to player feedback. Not only that, but we watch all sorts of tournaments too, both pro and more casual evenets. Though all suggestions get tested by the battle team.

Q: Do you prefer making entirely new characters or fitting old ones into the new systems?

A: Both are difficult in their own way, but some of the characters built around previous games systems don't fit too well into SF6, while with new characters we get to expand the world.

They also talk a little bit about Yasmine, and how there was a lot of work to try and represent the Filipino culture properly.
Overall, pretty much all that we learn from this is that Street Fighter 6 developers do not have any plans for changing system mechanics, and even though World Tour is not getting any more content, the resources that used to be spent on it are not going anywhere. Makes one wonder what happens now to people who worked on World Tour if theyir talents can't be utilized elsewhere.
