Riddles Announces Free Agency After Leaving Citadel Gaming

Canadian Street Fighter 6 pro player Riddles has announced his free agency after leaving American esports organization Citadel Gaming.

Riddles made the announcement on X a few days after missing out on qualification for the Esports World Cup through the Last Chance Qualifier. He reached the top 24 but was eliminated by Lexx, who went on to finish fifth and secure his place at the EWC, which kicks off today.

Riddles only joined Citadel in April following his departure from Team Liquid and represented the organization at several tournaments during his time with the team.

The departure comes as a bit of a surprise, as it is uncommon for players to leave an organization of their own accord. It could suggest there were internal issues that influenced Riddles' decision, although neither side has commented on the reasons for the split.

It is also notable that Riddles' announcement was brief and lacked the usual words of thanks or gratitude toward the organization. Adding to the speculation, Citadel Gaming has also remained silent and has yet to comment on his departure.

Riddles is a highly accomplished player and is widely regarded as one of the world's top Super Smash Bros. Ultimate competitors. He began competing in Street Fighter 6 following the game's release in 2023 and has continued to improve. He recently finished fourth at Blink Respawn and also placed fourth at Ultimate Fighting Arena last year.

Although he failed to qualify for the Esports World Cup, Riddles will now turn his attention to securing a place at the Capcom Cup.
