Street Fighter 6 Developers Reveal Controversy Over Modern Controls
Modern controls were also a hot topic within the offices of Capcom

Street Fighter 6 is a well-received game that everyone loves. The Twitch numbers for Street Fighter 6 continue to be impressive and it is certain to be one of the best selling fighting games ever.

However, if there is one criticism (asides perfect parry) many old timers will point to the Modern Controls which enables players to perform special moves with the push of a button. That said, there is damage scaling which means any move performed via Modern Controls only has 80% damage.

Interestingly, it seems the debate over Modern Controls wasn't only with fans, but even with developers as an interview with Street Fighter's director and producer, Matsumoto and Nakayama, done by walkerplus.com, reveals that team mates were a little divided on the controls.

While most of the team was fine with the addition of a new control scheme, there was more opposition to the naming convention.

According to Nakayama, "There are people in our company who have been playing since Street Fighter II, so while ``modern'' means modern, ``classic'' means classic, and they say, ``I don't like it because it feels like an old player.'' But once he was able to make them see that 'Classic' can be considered as traditional, or timeless, they were on board with the name.

Also of interest was the fact that to the developers, they don't consider Mordern as stronger than Classic Controls, neither do they think it is easier. According to the developers, Modern Controls is simply another way to play Street Fighter 6 with Modern working really well with some characters and being horrendous with others.

The  developers talked about a lot more which you can read about here
