Street Fighter 6 At CEO to be Played on PS5, Not PC
Whether this is a damper on the hype built for CEO remains to be seen

Recently Community Effort Orlando announced the return of their annual competition, taking place in June. One of the biggest stories from there was that Street Fighter 6 would be featured there which will make CEO 2023 the first major tournament for Street Fighter 6.

However, if people were hoping it would be on PC, those have been dashed with the announcement that Street Fighter 6 will be held on PS5.

This was revealed by a tweet by a user called @Neoxon619, who shared a screenshot from the CEO 2023 discord.

This comes hot on the heels of an announcement by Capcom that Capcom Cup and all the tournaments around it, including the LCQ, will be held on PCs. This raised hopes that other major tournaments would follow suit, but it would seem that this is not the case.

According to Alex Jebailey, the convener of CEO, there are already 50 PS5s ready for the tournament, and they would not be going with PCs this time around.

This, of course, reignites the debate around the suitability of consoles over PCs which continues to rage. For most, it is believed that PCs are better, but it is also widely accepted that running a PC tournament is a lot more expensive and tricky. All the tournaments that have done it so far have had sponsorships by PC makers which has alleviated the problem of running a PC-only tournament.

The news also affects Hit Box and other custom-made fight stick users since there is currently no PCB that allows those devices to work on PS5 yet. This would mean those people will either have to use something else, or not play at all. On the optimistic side, maybe a PCB would be made before that time.

It has been suggested that while PS5s don't have the same firepower as PCs, they at least come close. Now that CEO is still using Playstations, it is likely Evo would do the same, considering they are now owned by Sony
