Non of the fighting games have won anything, but the results are still pretty... interesting.
Steam Winter Sale 2023 is about to conclude tomorrow, and the results of the annual Steam Awards have been revealed already. During the holiday sale, players voted for different games in 11 categories to decide, which games they enjoyed the most during the 2023. Unfortunately, non of the fighting games won anything despite being quite successful in sales, even though Street Fighter 6 has been nominated for the "Best Game You Suck At". In the meantime, Bethesda's new IP Starfield, while being universally criticized for outdated gameplay, boring open world, and poor performance, won the "Most Innovative Gameplay" award, which is kinda hilarious. For now, let's see al the winners of Steam Awards 2023.
- Game of the Year Award: Baldur's Gate 3
- VR Game of the Year Award: Labyrinthine
- Labor of Love Award: Red Dead Redemption 2
- Best Game of Steam Deck Award: Hogwarts Legacy
- Better With Friends Award: Lethal Company
- Outstanding Visual Style Award: Atomic Heart
- Most Innovative Gameplay Award: Starfield
- Best Game You Suck At Award: Sifu
- Best Soundtrack Award: The Last of Us Part I
- Outstanding Story-Rich Game Award: Baldur's Gate 3
- Sit Back and Relax Award: Dave the Diver
Note that the games, which have been released on Steam during 2023 were eligible for participating in the Awards, that's why Sifu, originally released on Epic Games Store in 2021, and The Last of Us Part I, remaster of The Last of Us Playstation 3 exclusive, originally released for Playstation 5 in 2022, were able to win something.
