He will hopefully provide support for a team that wants to win
Japanese Street Fighter League team Saishunkan Sol Kumamoto has announced a new addition to its roster for the upcoming season.
After recruiting Kobayan from AMG, the team has gone further by signing Sasamo from IGZIST to serve as coach for the 2025 campaign.
Sasamo, a Brazilian-Japanese player, is a seasoned competitor who has featured on the Street Fighter League stage for the past two seasons. In 2023, he played for SSK and was part of the squad that finished third overall. In the following season, he joined Team Ibushigin alongside Kakeru and Yanai. Although the team did not make the playoffs, they still delivered a respectable performance. Earlier this year, Ibushigin lost most of its core players, with Cosa moving to SSK, Kakeru joining ZETA Division, and Sasamo transferring to IGZIST.
Now stepping into a new role, Sasamo expressed his excitement on social media. He stated that while he would have loved to compete in SFL Japan as a player, he is honored to contribute as a coach. He added that it is his hope that his guidance will help Saishunkan Sol Kumamoto claim their first-ever SFL championship.
The current Saishunkan Sol Kumamoto team roster consists of:
Saishunkan Sol Kumamoto Roster
Player
2024 Performance
Planned Characters
Role/Notes
Nemo
67% win rate / 40 points
Bison, Blanka
Captain. Nemo has been a mainstay in the team and will look to provide leadership. Even if not the most talented of the bunch, he will provide much-needed structure.
Machabo
64% win rate / 70 points
Ryu, Akuma
Machabo has vast experience in Street Fighter League and has been a consistent point getter for any team he has been on.
Cosa
71% win rate / 60 points
Ryu, Ken
Cosa isn't as experienced as the other two, but is a shoto specialist which is a good thing to have on any team. He was also really strong in season 2 of the game and still has a lot to offer.
Kobayan
First SSK season
Zangief
New recruit. Kobayan took the FGC by storm after a dominant display at Topanga League 2024 where he won the championship. He has since become a strong player and while his dominance might have waned a little with the Zangief nerfs, he is still expected to add some edge to SSK.
