Someone Just Managed to Create Moddable, Offline Version of 2XKO
If you know who Ryn a.k.a. WistfulHopes is, this should come as no surprise.

If you've been following the modding scene of Arc System Works games, especially Guilty Gear Strive, you might have heard of Ryn, also known as WistfulHopes (their twitter handle). If you didn't, you should know that Ryn is an extremely prolific modder who consistently showed off not only high quality mods for different games, but also went above in beyond when it comes to what can be achieved through modding.

Her grasp of the inner workings of video games allowed for not just swapping models, but changing entire rulesets and how games function on a fundamental level. Allowing for mods that entirely change the game's shaders, make room for custom characters, or put DBFZ's Goku in Strive. Some even more impressive stuff is hard to find now, as it was hosted on a now deleted account, but suffice to say Ryn is extremely good at what she does.

She now proved it once again with 2XKO by reverse engineering Riot's protection system to create a version of the game that can be modded and played entirely offline.

While this comes with obvious limitations, it also enables a whole lot. Obviously there's modding to start off with, like how you see Goku on the character select screen. It's not just an image, he is technically a character in the files now, it's just that loading him crashes the game.

Folks playing on Linux can also enjoy playing the game now, even if it's limited to offline, local play. That's still better than nothing that 2XKO currently provides for Linux users.

From here on out, it seems like the limit is only in the creativity and technical knowledge, and Ryn has plenty of both, which should serve as a massive green flag for anyone who is hiring, which is partially what prompted her post to begin with.
