Second World Warrior Japan to Begin Earlier Due to High Player Numbers
It might be as big as the first

Capcom has released a statement regarding the upcoming second World Warrior tournament in Japan for the Capcom Pro Tour.

The organizers announced that the start time for the first round of matches will be moved forward from 1:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. in order to accommodate the large number of participants.

The inaugural World Warrior tournament in Japan shattered records with 2,357 entrants, making it one of the most densely populated tournaments in competitive fighting game history.

While the second edition is expected to attract fewer players, Capcom confirmed that the tournament will still see well over 1,000 entrants. The earlier start ensures enough time to progress through the massive bracket smoothly.

Importantly, this adjustment only affects the opening round. Broadcast times will remain unchanged, so viewers can tune in as originally scheduled.

The first World Warrior event was won by GO1, with Dogura finishing second. Given the depth of Japan’s talent pool, consistency will be difficult to achieve, something that should make this next event even more exciting to watch.

The second World Warrior tournament is set for October 5, 2025.
