There will be several new faces
The Sajam Slam is returning for its fifth edition. The tournament will once again feature Street Fighter 6 and will include a mix of returning players and coaches, alongside several new faces.
Some of the new coaches this season include ChrisCCH, Riddles, JAK, and Punk. However, not all previous coaches will be returning—Diaphone, for example, announced via Twitter that due to other competitive commitments, he won’t be able to participate in this edition of the Slam.
JB will also not be returning, while Brian F revealed that this will be his final Slam. He explained that he no longer has the competitive drive and feels he doesn't have what it takes to compete at that level anymore.
Sajam Slam is a competition that pairs newcomers to Street Fighter 6 with experienced coaches who teach them the game. Participants compete in a team-based format, and the event has enjoyed great success. It was even featured at the last Capcom Cup, where it collaborated with Reject Fight Night.
The goal of the event is to raise awareness of Street Fighter and bring new faces into the FGC (fighting game community). As a result, several streamers not typically associated with fighting games have started to appreciate the genre, and some are even becoming quite skilled. This exposure has increased Street Fighter 6's visibility in the broader gaming scene and is one of the many reasons it remains the most popular fighting game today.
The date for the event has yet to be announced, but will be made available soon.
