Punk Considers Character Switch After Esports World Cup Exit
We might see a new main

Following his exit from the Esports World Cup earlier this week, Evo 2024 champion Punk has hinted at a possible character switch.

Since the launch of Street Fighter 6, Punk has been strongly associated with Cammy. He has won numerous tournaments with her and is regarded as one of the best Cammy players in the world, sticking with her even through balance nerfs.

Recently, however, Punk has suggested that Cammy may no longer be enough. Since his World Warrior victory in June, his results have dipped compared to earlier seasons. He only reached top 64 at Blink Respawn 2025, lost to Booce in the following World Warrior event, failed to break into top eight at Evo 2025, again missed top eight at the third World Warrior, and most recently finished 17th at the Esports World Cup.

Reflecting on these struggles, Punk took to X to share that he plans to regroup, come back stronger next year, and is considering switching characters for the new season.

Known for his versatility, Punk has shown he can perform at a high level with nearly any fighter. He has won tournaments using newly released characters and has experimented with several options. Kimberly, whom he used effectively during the Street Fighter League World Championship, is one possibility. He has also been practicing Sagat, even winning a TNS event with him.

Whatever direction Punk takes, fans can expect more entertaining matches and unforgettable moments from one of Street Fighter’s most adaptable players.
